The NRA Instructor Training Course helps you develop the additional KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTITUDE, and techniques needed to organize and teach courses in the NRA Basic Firearm Training Program.
Please note that effective July 1, 2018, the NRA Education and Training Division now requires that all Instructor Candidates must have completed the Basic Student Course in the shooting discipline that they wish to obtain Instructor certification.
The course is approximately sixteen (16) hours. Candidates must possess and demonstrate a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills acquired through previous firearm training and/or previous shooting experience. Instructor candidates must be intimately familiar with each action type in the discipline they wish to be certified.
The NRA’s Instructor Course objective is to teach you how to teach others in a specific discipline, and NOT meant to teach the instructor the basic skills of how to shoot.
Minimum Age Requirement
Certified Instructor: 21 years old
Assistant Instructor: 18 years old
Apprentice Instructor: 13 years old
Basic Instructor Training (BIT) (INCLUDED): The BIT is approximately six (6) hours of instruction. This course is not discipline-
